The story of Kalos sparkling wine
Kalos sparkling wine First Edition brut, vintage 2021
This unique sparkling wine comes from the picturesque Vipava Valley, reknowned for its rich winemaking heritage. Kalos sparkling wine is the result of a rigorous selection of hand-picked grapes from the best sunny slopes of the Furlan farm in Zavin.
In the production process, the first fermentation takes place in stainless steel barrels, followed by a second fermentation in bottles using the classic method, where the yeasts are left to mature for 18 months. After fermentation, the wine is stored underground at an altitude of 214 metres above sea
level. The selected grapes were grown at this altitude in the Vipava Valley.
The depth and the conditions in the Idrija Mine give Kalos sparkling wine a special, inimitable character. The mine is famous for its mercury history and, as one of the oldest mines, it is still preserved and maintained in its original state. The mines are now quiet, dry but dusty and full of history. This is what gives the sparkling wine the special energy to age perfectly.
Kalos sparkling wine is distinguished by its excellence, elegance, exceptionality and uniqueness. Each bottle is aged and refined in the special environment of the Idrija underground, which gives it a special note, history and character. The sparkling wine is rich, sparkiling and elegant, with the freshness of fruity and buttery notes. The acidity is not too pronounced, allowing the flavours to develop in a delicate and balanced way. Its complexity and freshness leave a lasting impression.

Taste, smell and colour
APPEARANCE: When poured into a glass, it has a rich effervescence that bursts beautifully creating a wonderful spectacle. The bubbles in the glass disappear very quickly, as if they had merged into a harmonious whole of sparkling wine. However, there are fine, tiny, very lively sparkles that play like glowing mercury, moving upwards and disappearing like magical glimpses in the night sky.
COLOUR: rather pale gold that gives an impression of purity and clarity.
SMELL: fresh, fruity and rich
TASTE: there is a harmony between the freshness of the fruity notes and the buttery pear. There are hints of pineapple, melon and green apple, rounded off by a buttery, bitter note. On the palate, it has a natural finish, typical of brut natural sparkling wines, but without too much acidity. This allows the flavours to develop gently and in balance. The result is a sparkling wine that is both complex and fresh, in harmony with the natural aromas and leaving a lasting impression.
